Our kind of fun =D

This weekend the kiddo was in camp (I am writing this as we wait for him to have lunch), and since we were on our own, we did fun things parents do when they are left alone.

ANTIQUE STORE TIME, BABY!!!
(I mean, we sometimes drag Juan along for these, and I would like to think he has learned to enjoy them. Or maybe he realized complaining is pointless. =P)

Our first stop was the Summit Antique Center, in...well, Summit. Speaking of cities:

Hometown mentioned! 😏
I've seen the "Ayres" spelling many times, but I never bothered to check the why or how it fell out of fashion (it is more prominent in old stuff).
There was also a lot of creepy stuff, as usual:

Two old dolls sitting on an antique chair, the dolls look quite creepy.

Oh how soft do we go on our children these days, letting them play with toys that look cute, instead of dolls that seem possessed by demonic spirits.
I also wonder if this was meant to be a kids toy, or some sort of decoration. It is hard to imagine it is meant for anything other than fueling nightmares...

We grabbed a bite in the next town over, Chatham, at a place that makes sandwiches and offers gluten-free options: Pascarella Bros. I might have mentioned before the fact that my wife is celiac. At this point we have a nice list of places that are safe for her in this area.
Yesterday it occurred to me that I should put it in a post, or even its own section of the site. As a service of sorts. In particular because any time your search on your phone in this area, your get overwhelmed with NYC options.[1]

Heck, we could even include a list of places in the Denver Metro that aren't usually mentioned in online lists, which tend to include "trendy" places". Speaking of which, second-hometown mentioned!

We love this road, which is near our last place (and all of them, we always lived on the west side of town).
After lunch we drove to Lafayette Mill. No photos on that one, we were already a bit overwhelmed from looking at so many things. We mostly focused on a set of stores we hadn't seen in our previous visit there.
Funnily enough there was another big antique center (technically a flea market) in Lafayette, CO too. Which we also found out about after looking for things to do in that town to justify the drive to a fabulous Mexican restaurant that served GF food, back when that town was its only location.

Footnotes
  1. Anything that uses an X miles radius here, will invariably include things on the other side of the Hudson. You would think at this point it would be a problem solved with a state or ZIP code filter, but here we are.
